The culinary offerings here respect tradition while elevating classic flavors with modern finesse. The menu is a treasure trove of exceptional dishes that showcase the depth and variety of Mexican cuisine. Start with their celebrated appetizers such as the Smoked Chicken Nachos, loaded with tender chicken, melted cheese, beans, and topped with creamy guacamole and sour cream, or the Garlic Shrimp Guaymas, where succulent shrimp are sautéed in a zesty garlic-lemon sauce that dances on the palate. Don’t miss the Sample Platter, which artfully combines tenderloin tips in pimienta sauce, grilled quail, and those same irresistible garlic shrimp, perfect for those eager to explore multiple flavors at once.
Among entrées, the Filete Cantinflas stands out—a perfectly cooked tenderloin beef filet infused with Chihuahua cheese and mild chile mulato sauce, paired with creamy avocado, fluffy rice, and black beans. Another crowd favorite is the Red Snapper Mojo De Ajo, fresh gulf red snapper bathed in a savory garlic and lemon sauce, highlighting the kitchen’s expertise in balancing bold and delicate flavors. For a truly special treat, the limited-quantity Pollo Ahumado impresses with its smoky richness that resonates deeply with guests.
Sweet endings here are equally divine. Indulge in the Flan Al Kahlúa, a velvety vanilla custard topped with Kahlúa and almonds—a beloved recipe passed down from Javier’s mother—or the Passion Fruit Cheesecake, which adds a tropical twist to a classic favorite. The Key Lime Pie offers a tart yet creamy finish, perfectly balancing fresh lime and smooth cream.
What truly elevates Javier’s Gourmet Mexicano is the drinks menu. Their Pineapple Margaritas are refreshing with a subtle sweetness, while the Michelada provides a savory, spiced beer cocktail experience. Their Espresso Martini is the perfect complement to dessert, creating a rich and indulgent finale to the meal. Guests consistently rave about the balanced cocktails that steer clear of being too sweet—crafted thoughtfully to enhance the dining experience.

This place is awesome! The vibe of the restaurant is very moody and Mexican vintage! Although the seating could be a bit more comfortable but I do not mind it. The drinks are very yummy and not too sweet! The food is also great, we got the combo nachos, the filet Cantinflas, and I ordered a side of shrimp with their garlic sauce!
From the valet’s to the hostess to the waitstaff, everyone is very welcoming and friendly. On a warm spring evening, the patio is the perfect place to sit with friends and enjoy the delicious Mexican food. The vibes inside feel like you could be at a nice restaurant down in San Miguel. Javier’s is one of those restaurants that adds character to the neighborhood and consistently delivers a great dining experience.
My dining experience at Javier's Gourmet Mexicano was a delightful exploration of authentic Mexican cuisine. I savored the Codorniz a la Talla, a beautifully prepared quail dish that was tender and bursting with rich, smoky flavors, perfectly capturing the essence of traditional Mexican grilling. The Red Snapper Mojo de Ajo was equally impressive, featuring fresh snapper elevated by a vibrant garlic sauce that balanced zest and depth. The restaurant’s ambiance was warm and inviting, with attentive service that made the meal even more enjoyable. The only drawback was the parking, which was quite cumbersome and required some patience to navigate. Despite this inconvenience, the exceptional quality of the food and the overall experience make Javier's a standout choice for gourmet Mexican dining. I recommend planning ahead for parking to fully enjoy this culinary gem.
Loved this place, everything was amazing! I got the Filete Azteca and the meat is soo tender!! Service spot on, vibe was great, the food and drinks were tasty!! The green sauce with the chips and salsa is the best I’ve ever had, has a little sweetness to it!! Yummmm!!

This was our family's first time at Javier's and we had an overall great experience - I was I could give 4.5 stars. We had family come in from out of town and we wanted to take them to a place well-known in Dallas for great experiences and wonderful food. I always appreciate when you can make a reservation, although we had to call the restaurant as opposed to being able to do it online. We were seated as soon as we got there and I was pleased that we (there were 7 of us) were put at a round table which always makes for great conversation where no one feels left out. The ambiance inside is wonderful and they even have spots where you can tuck away for a more quiet and secluded experience. The food and drinks did not disappoint! They don't have a kid's menu, but if you ask they can make something special and much simpler for them. My daughter ordered the beef/steak and thought it was absolutely delicious - she is a very picky eater. The only miss with our experience was that there was cheese on our beans and it wasn't indicated on the menu. Seems small, but as someone who doesn't enjoy cheese on their food I am always careful to read what's in my food and I'm sure to order it without cheese. Both my daughter and I received the beans with cheese on them so we had to ask them to remake it without it. Not overall terrible, and they fixed the issue quickly, but something to note if you're like us and you don't want cheese on your food.
I met some friends for dinner here amd it was good. The servers do rush you as others have said in the comments. I had the shrimp with the lemon garlic sauce and they were good. We got the chocolate cake for dessert and it was good. I would come back.
